With so many responsibilities in our everyday lives, it’s often difficult to find the time to fit workouts and healthy eating in between the business meetings and extracurricular activities. Let’s say you get an average of one hour for lunch during the work day, and while that might not sound like a large chunk of time, it’s not entirely impossible to fit in a few things that will help you maximize your lunch hour so that you can work towards getting your best body. To get you started, take a look at our four ways to maximize your lunch break and your body.
1. Prep Healthy Lunches
Success requires planning and preparation, so if you want to give yourself a head start eating healthily, consider making a week’s worth of lunches on Sunday afternoons so that you’ll be able to grab one on your way out of the door every morning. Not only will you have a healthy option readily available to you, but you’ll save money by preparing your own lunch instead of buying fast food or takeout every day.
2. Up Your Water Intake
More often than not, we mistake dehydration for hunger and munch far more than we actually need to. Be sure to keep a large water bottle handy at your desk at all times, and refill it at least 3-4 times throughout the day. Water keeps us full, and it also has the added bonus of keeping you alert and sharp, so you can finish all of the tasks at hand while you’re at work.

3. Work Out at Work
If the gym is too far away to get in a good workout on your lunch break, you could bring the gym to you. If you work in a cubicle, space may be limited, but you can easily (and cheaply) fit a yoga mat and a pair of weights under your desk. Do some quick strength training exercises and take a 10-15 minute walk around your building or around the block, and you’ll be amazed at the progress you’ll make on improving your overall health and your physique.
4. Find an Office Buddy
Sometimes all we need is a little push to do the right thing, and that can come in the form of a friend who can keep you accountable. If there’s someone in your office who is interested in improving their body and maximizing their lunch break, consider joining forces with them. You can plan meals together, work out together, and even send each other reminders as needed. It’s always easier to stay strong when you have someone else who has your best interests at heart as well.
